From a young age, I viewed the sects of Jainism—Shwetambar, Digambar, and Sthanakvasi—as one. To me, being Jain was the essence of our identity, transcending individual sectarian divides. Whether visiting a Shwetambar temple, a Digambar temple, or a Sthanak, my focus was always on the rituals and values that unite us as Jains.
As I grew older, I encountered individuals who held firm to their sect’s traditions. Shwetambars gravitated towards Shwetambar temples, Digambars to their own, and Sthanakvasis to Sthanaks. While many were open-minded, I noticed some who were so particular that they wouldn’t even bow their heads in temples belonging to other sects. This attitude struck me as perplexing and prompted me to ask: aren’t we all Jains first? While it’s natural to cherish the rituals of one’s own sect, it should never come at the cost of dismissing the practices of others.
This realization sparked the idea for ‘Explore Jainism,’ a platform dedicated to showcasing the rich tapestry of Jain beliefs, rituals, and traditions across different sects. Our mission is to collect information about various Jain practices and compile a comprehensive list of temples, enabling individuals to explore the diversity within our faith across boundaries. We aim to make it easier to find temples in various districts, states, and countries. We are continuously working to upload more temples, working tirelessly to develop an exhaustive resource that includes locations from all over India and beyond.
